Anglo Saxon. Decorative Mount. A chipped-carved bronze tongue shaped mount. The body decorated with a gilded entwined fantastic animal (style I). There are two bronze pins on the reverse side that were used to fix this piece to iron, some of which still remains. Possibly a decorative mount from an helmet or harness. 6th Century. Lincolnshire. 24 mm long. Attractive and very rare.
