Viking Silver Strap-end. A solid silver gilt Viking strap-end decorated in the "Winchester style". The decoration consists of two facing birds or animals separated by a large floral pattern, possibly a tree. This style generally degenerated as the years went by into a more simplified openwork pattern. 26.2 gms. 10th-11th Century. 26 mm long. A very rare item.
