Viking Zoomorphic Mount. A bronze zoomorphic mount probably from harness work. Crosier in shape with engraved decoration in the Viking Ringerike style of the 11th century. It depicts the long curved neck and head of a right-facing fantastic animal with large eye and open jaw. The mount is broken at the base of the neck, and the back is plain with no indication of a means of attachment. 10th-11th Century. Lincolnshire. 37 mm x 39 mm. |
