Post Medieval Gold Finger Ring. A thin plain gold
finger ring of circular cross-section. No makers or assay marks. 1.6
grams. 18.3 mm internal diameter. Rings of this type are difficult to
date with any certainty, as they may have been produced from as early as
the 14th century up to the present day. The gold quality of this ring
corresponds to the guinea / Sovereign of 22 carat. Due to the colour,
fabric and this being a metal detector find, I would take an educated
guess to its age as being 17th to 19th century. Good size and wearable. |
