Medieval Canon Law Treatise. By an English Scribe, c. 1510. Single leaf from a Renaissance Treatise on Canon Law, in Latin, on paper 145 x 106 mm approximately. The manuscript's predominately legal content and lack of illumination indicate it was probably written for use by a law student. Written in secretary-influenced chancery hand, 18-20 lines in brown ink. Calligraphic initial letters and rubrics are in red ink. Marginal guides to the scribe indicating which letters to colour are still visible on the leaf.
