Roman Figurine of Mars. A cast copper-alloy figurine of Mars, the Roman god of war. The figurine is standing naked, apart from a 'Corinthian' style helmet, which has a pronounced crest of feathers. Both arms and legs are incomplete. 1st - 4th century AD. UKDFD Ref. No. - 27994. Lincolnshire. 59 mm high. Figurines of Mars were popular in the north and west of England, where the military presence was stronger.
