Anglo Saxon Bronze Hanging Bowl Mount. An elaborate bronze hanging bowl mount, sub-triangular in form with a slightly curved face and recessed back. The face is enamelled in red and decorated with two designs in relief, to the base is a triquetra knot infilled with niello. To the top, a larger asymmetrical design, consisting of an interlaced continuous pattern and two triangular cells, each with niello outline and infilled with orange or yellow enamel. The design is possibly an animal mask-like representation. The remainder of the body is silvered which as now turned a dark grey. 7th-8th Century. Lincolnshire. UKDFD Ref. No. - 22650. 57.4mm high, 23.4mm wide. A very rare item.
