Roman Early Crossbow Brooch. A good-sized early bronze crossbow brooch with plain tubular terminals and a decorated footplate. The bow carries an unusual feature in the form of a pierced comb. Dated AD 200–250. See Richard Hattatt, Ancient Brooches and Other Artefacts, p. 203, no. 1675. Length 52 mm. Complete with pin; a rare and attractive example.
