Medieval Horse Pendant (14th Century)
WMA 8509
Medieval Horse Pendant. A good sized copper alloy quatrefoil‑shaped horse pendant, consisting of a central lion inside a square. Each lobe of the quatrefoil is set with a fleur‑de‑lis on a red enamelled background, traces of which still survive. 14th Century. North Lincolnshire. 48 mm × 32 mm. An unusual piece as the central lion is facing to the right — all others I have traced are left‑facing.
