JULIAN. 360-363 AD. Contemporary Forgery /Ar Plated Siliqua. D N IVLIANVS P F AVG. Pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed bust right. VOTIS V MVLTIS X. Legend in four lines within laurel wreath. RSC 161. Although the mintmark is off the flan, this is a copy of a siliqua of Arles (PCON), as it is the only mint that used the combination of obverse legend and reverse type. This is a silver plated bronze core that retains nearly 100% of the plating, only a very small area on the edge of the flan showing the core. Attractive, rare, and very interesting.
