Theodosius II
402–450 AD
Theodosius II became emperor of the Eastern Roman Empire as a child and ruled for nearly half a century, one of the longest reigns in Roman history. His government was shaped by powerful court officials, his sister Pulcheria, and later his wife Eudocia. His reign saw the construction of the famous Theodosian Walls, which protected Constantinople for a millennium. The Theodosian Code, a monumental legal compilation, was also issued under his authority. His coinage reflects the stability and administrative sophistication of the Eastern Empire during this period.
