Eadberht

737–758 AD

Eadberht was one of Northumbria’s most capable and influential kings, presiding over a period of political consolidation and territorial ambition. His reign saw renewed strength in royal authority and a flourishing of Northumbrian culture. His sceatta coinage is admired for its artistry and variety, often featuring distinctive animal motifs and finely executed inscriptions. Surviving examples are scarce and highly sought after, offering valuable insight into the kingdom’s monetary and artistic traditions during the mid‑8th century.
