Roman Lead Sling Shot

Here is an interesting group of Roman lead slingshot, all of the usual egg‑shaped form, some showing signs of use. These projectiles were in service from Republican times through to the end of the Roman Empire, though lead slingshot generally fell out of favour during the 2nd century AD. Among the soldiers trained with this weapon were archers who used them alongside the bow. They are in excavated condition and some may require a light clean. Sizes vary from 25 to 35 mm.
