The Arelate mint was a major western workshop of the Constantinian era, supplying large volumes of bronze coinage to Gaul and the surrounding provinces. Its issues are known for sharp engraving, distinctive mintmarks, and a consistent series of PROVIDENTIAE AVGG campgate types. Arelate played a key role in the reorganisation of western mint production under Constantine. Its coins form an essential component of any Constantinian mint collection.
