The Thessalonica mint (modern Salonika, Greece) was a major eastern Balkan workshop active throughout the Tetrarchic and Constantinian periods. Its issues are known for their distinctive style, frequent use of GENIO and VIRTVS EXERCIT types, and clear SMTS mintmarks. Thessalonica played an important role in supplying coinage to the eastern provinces and remains an essential component of any Constantine I mint collection.
